The short version
House painting in Downers Grove, IL often includes repairs first: cracked plaster inside older homes, and worn trim and sills outside. We paint interiors all year and exteriors from late April into October, and check homes built before 1978 for lead before any scraping.
A railroad village with a long building history
Downers Grove was founded in 1832 by Pierce Downer and named for a grove of old-growth bur oaks. The Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad reached it in 1864, it was incorporated in 1873, and it had 50,247 residents at the 2020 census, with three stations still on the Burlington Northern line. That long history is why house ages vary so much from block to block.
Older homes get the most prep: plaster reattached and skimmed, loose exterior paint scraped, and lead-safe work practices where the build year calls for them.

Older-home exteriors take longer because of scraping and repair, so we book them early in the season. Interiors with plaster work run all year, room by room.
