Pride of the Fox
St. Charles, whose motto is Pride of the Fox, had 33,081 residents at the 2020 census. The Fox River runs through the center of town, which sits between South Elgin to the north and Geneva to the south. It was founded in 1834 as Charleston, took the name St. Charles in 1839 and was incorporated as a city on February 9 of that year.
Older homes near the river tend to have original wood cabinets worth refinishing, while newer homes often have builder cabinets that suit paint.
